Coronary Artery Disease
What is coronary artery disease? Coronary Artery Disease is when the arteries become narrowed and blocked by a gradual build up of fat (cholestrol) with in the artery wall, which reduces blood flow to the heart muscle. This build up is called "Atherosclerotic Plaque" or simply plaque.

Symptoms of this disease that you may experienced are heartburn, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath and heavy sweating. When the flow is significantly reduced the heart muscle does not receive enough blood flow to meet it's needs, serve symptoms develop Angina Pectoris(chest pain),Myocardial Infarction(heart attack. A heart attack is the result of a completely blocked artery.

Risk Factors Smoking,High Blood Pressure other risk factors are high fat/high cholestrol diet,Family history of coronary arterydisease. Diabetes, lack of exercise, obesity(beign over weight, stress.

Treatment Options

Medications can be used but they do not eliminate the narrowing of the arteries. Another option is Bypass Surgery this is where they bypass the blockage in the coronary artery. Angioplasty is another way to go this is where they put a catheter with a small ballon on the end into the narrowed section of the artery this process thus reduces the narrowing until it no longr exists. Stent Implantation is a small latticed, metal scaffold that is put into your blood vessel on a ballon catheter. Stent are used for treatment of new lesions or blockages and in areas where restenois has occured. The docotor maneuvers the catheter into the bloked artery and inflates the ballon. The stent expands against the vessel wall as the ballon is inflated Once the ballon has been deflated and withdrawn ,the stent stays in plce permanently, holding blood vessel opened and improving blood flow.

I just had stents put in my heart I had 7 blocked arteries,2 were 99% blocked 3 were 80% blocked and 2 were over 50% blocked. The pressure in my chest was very painfull. I had several heart attacks before they new my arteries were blocked. I'm still recovering from the implant surgery but I can say that I'm not having all that pain in my chest any more. Below are pictures of before and after the stent were put in my heart it is unbelievable the difference it made as your about to see!

This is a digram of my plugged arteries.
